Full itinerary

Invergordon Port North
I will meet you beside your cruise ship for a relaxed start to the day. The air feels fresh, and the hills rise in the distance. We begin our drive north in the Ford Tourneo Custom. I like to share local stories as the landscape opens ahead. The first stretch feels calm and easy, setting the tone for the day.

Worth knowing: Pick-up and drop-off are right at the pier. There is no need for extra transfers.

Million Dollar View
Locals call this panoramic hilltop the Million Dollar View. From the Struie Road, the Dornoch Firth spreads out below. You see open water, soft hills, and scattered cottages. The light changes by the minute. It is peaceful and full of colour. This is the first stop for photos and a breath of Highland air.

Worth knowing: Easy access and short walking paths.

Aleman’s tip: The morning light here is beautiful for photos.

Falls of Shin
We follow forest roads to the Falls of Shin. The water rushes through a narrow gorge. Between May and September, you may see salmon leaping upstream. Even out of season, it is a quiet and green place to stretch your legs and enjoy a coffee.

Worth knowing: Short, level paths lead to the viewing area. Cafe and toilets on site.

Aleman’s tip: This is a favourite for families and nature lovers.

Dunrobin Castle
White towers rise above the sea as we reach Dunrobin Castle. The gardens sweep down to the shore in perfect symmetry. Inside, each room holds pieces of Highland history from the Sutherland family. The falconry show is famous. Eagles and hawks soar above the lawns as the falconer narrates their story.

Worth knowing: Tickets can be bought easily upon arrival. You can stroll straight into the grounds. I always allow time for you to explore at your own pace.

Aleman’s tip: If you enjoy history or photography, this stop is unforgettable.

Important: Tickets not included – please pre-book from Historic Environment Scotland.

Glenmorangie Distillery (Book for 2 PM)
A short drive south takes us to Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain. The scent of malt fills the air. It was founded in 1843. This historic distillery has produced smooth Highland whisky for generations. You can join a guided tour and tasting around 2 PM or browse the shop if you prefer a shorter visit.

Worth knowing: Tours must be reserved in advance. I wait during your visit so you never feel rushed.

Important: Book the tour early if you can. It is popular in the summer.

The Royal Borough of Dornoch (Lunch Stop)
We stop for lunch in Dornoch. It is a lovely town with a cathedral and small cafes around the square. The food is local and the welcome is warm. After lunch, you can walk to the beach or visit the historic cathedral. The town feels peaceful and charming.

Worth knowing: Easy to walk around and full of local shops. Most visitors like to spend a little extra time here, exploring the cathedral and small boutiques.

Aleman’s tip: I can recommend cafes that serve great soup and home baking.

Dornoch Firth View
After lunch, we drive along the Dornoch Firth. The water shines beside the road, and the hills stretch away in the distance. I like to pause at quiet lay bys so you can take photos or just enjoy the stillness. It is one of the most scenic drives in the north.

Worth knowing: There are several safe photo stops along the route.

Aleman’s tip: The reflections on the water are beautiful on bright days.

Loch Fleet Seal Watching
optional add-on
If you want to see wildlife, we can visit Loch Fleet Nature Reserve. Seals rest on the sandbanks, and seabirds circle above. It is a peaceful, open space with fresh sea air. This stop adds time but fits easily if planned in advance.

Worth knowing: Best to visit near low tide. Timing adjusts easily to fit your ship schedule.

Aleman’s tip: Bring binoculars for a closer view of the seals.
