Full itinerary

Depart from Invergordon Port
Your adventure begins right at the Port of Invergordon. I will collect you personally and make sure everyone is settled in before we set off. The first stretch of the journey passes rolling farmland and quiet woodland roads. It is a calm departure from the busy world into Highland peace.

Departing from Invergordon Port, at the pier or a pre-arranged meeting point.
Pick-ups nearby locations or hotels can be arranged on request.

Black Rock Gorge
Hidden in the forest near Evanton. This deep sandstone gorge is one of the area’s best-kept secrets. The path winds gently through pine trees until the ground drops away suddenly. It reveals sheer red cliffs carved by the River Glass over thousands of years. It is an otherworldly place that feels like a natural cathedral.

Worth knowing: Allow around 40 minutes to enjoy this stop. The path is uneven in places but easy to follow.

Aleman’s Tip: This spot featured in the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Bring a camera and sturdy shoes. The short forest walk is full of character and colour.

Fyrish Monument
Rising above the town of Alness. This stone monument tells the story of Highland history and hope. Built in 1783 by Sir Hector Munro. It honours local soldiers who served overseas. The walk to the top rewards you with wide skies, stunning scenery, and sweeping views over the Cromarty Firth.

Wet-Weather Backup:

  • If the Cromarty walk is too wet. We can explore around Chanonry Point more or visit Glenmorangie Distillery.
  • If Fyrish is muddy. We can visit Dornoch beach and cathedral.

Worth to Know: Perfect for active travellers who enjoy scenic walking and quiet landscapes.

Aleman’s Tip: If you enjoy a good climb. The walk takes about 45 minutes and offers an unforgettable view.

Rogie Falls
At Rogie Falls, nature puts on a show. Water crashes through a rocky gorge surrounded by forest, and a suspension bridge gives you the best view of the cascade. When the sunlight hits the spray, the colours of the forest glow all around you.

Worth knowing: A 15-minute circular walk from the car park with picnic spots and toilets nearby.

Aleman’s Tip: Between August and October, you might see salmon leaping upstream. Pause here, take a deep breath, and let the sound of the falls fill your senses.

Scenic Drive along the Cromarty Firth
This peaceful road follows the coastline of the Cromarty Firth. It is a beautiful mix of water, farmland, and small fishing towns. The shifting light offers strong photo moments every few minutes.

Aleman’s Tip: I know the best viewpoints for quick photo breaks. This drive is where the Highlands truly open up.

Cromarty Village & Lunch at Sutor Creek Café
The colourful seaside village of Cromarty is a true Highland treasure. Its narrow streets and pretty cottages feel timeless. While the harbour looks out to the open firth. Lunch is at Sutor Creek Cafe. It is famous for its wood-fired pizza and fresh seafood.

Worth knowing: Lunch is flexible and not included. Typical meals cost 12 to 18 pounds per person.

Aleman’s Tip: If the Cromarty walk is too wet. We can explore around Chanonry Point more or visit Glenmorangie Distillery. When the weather is kind, the harbour walk is one of the happiest parts of the day.

Dolphin Spotting at Chanonry Point
This is one of the few places in the world. You can stand on a beach and watch wild dolphins swim by. Bottlenose dolphins often leap and play within sight and delight visitors.

Worth knowing: The flat beach path is suitable for all visitors. Spend about 30 to 40 minutes here to make the most of the experience.

Aleman’s Tip: I will check the tide times so we arrive when the dolphins are most active, usually about an hour after low tide. Bring a warm layer and patience. The wait often turns into magic.

Glenmorangie Distillery
optional add-on
Glenmorangie Distillery is a must for whisky lovers. It was founded in 1843 and is known for its smooth single malts and elegant setting on the Dornoch Firth. You can take a short guided tour, enjoy a tasting, or browse the shop filled with Highland warmth.

Aleman’s Tip: Distillery visits are best around two in the afternoon. Let me know in advance so I can plan it.

Important: Entry tickets should be booked directly with the distillery. If we include this visit, I will adjust the route so everything fits comfortably into your day.

Return to Invergordon Port
The drive back to the port is calm and scenic and follows the same coastline that shaped much of our day. It is the perfect time to unwind, share a few stories, and take one last look at the Highlands before you board your ship.
